Aġenzija Sapport is looking for caring and motivated Part-Time Support Workers to join the My Programme service on an indefinite contract basis. Vacancies are available in both Malta and Gozo.

Please note that the ability to communicate fluently in Maltese is a requirement for this position.

As a Support Worker, you will work within a team to implement each service user’s individual programme, helping them develop their skills, increase their independence and participate actively within the community. You will also be part of a dedicated and supportive team!

The starting annual basic salary is €18,516, paid on a pro-rata basis according to the number of hours worked, with a minimum average of 20 hours per week. The post also includes annual increments and a number of attractive allowances, paid on a pro-rata basis.

You will be responsible for:

• Supporting service users to participate in community activities and access opportunities related to employment and active participation in society.
• Assisting service users with programmes focused on communication, social interaction, basic education, domestic tasks and other essential life skills.
• Working with a team of professionals to develop and implement each service user’s individual programme.
• Supporting service users to achieve the objectives outlined in their Personal Care Plan and reach their full potential.
• Monitoring service users’ progress and identifying areas requiring further development or support.
• Accurately documenting and communicating developments relating to service users and their individual plans.

Requisites

Eligible candidates must meet one of the criteria mentioned below:

A recognised ‘Qualification’ at MQF Level 3 or higher (minimum of 60 ECTS/ECVET) in the health and social sector (eg. MCAST Diploma in Care);

OR

A recognised ‘Award’ at MQF Level 3 or higher (less than 60 credits) in the health and social care sector or a related and relevant field, together with six (6) months’ work experience (this needs to be supported by formal documentation, and needs to be related to the disability and/or mental health sector);

OR

Having an A’ Level standard of education, with a passion for the disability field; such candidates must be currently reading for a ‘Qualification’ at MQF Level 5 or higher (minimum 120 ECTS/ECVET) in healthcare, social science or nursing/allied health, or a related field;

OR

Three (3) years’ relevant work experience as a Support/Care Worker in the fields of disability, mental health or a relevant social sector; one (1) year (equivalent to full-time) of which may be in the voluntary sector (this needs to be supported by a formal letter from the entity, and needs to be related to the disability and/or mental health sector).

Applicants eligible under the last clause will be requested to follow a part-time course leading to an award in Working with Persons with Special Needs which will be offered by MCAST or another relevant course as identified by the Agency. The course may be partially funded by the Agency. Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA).

Applicants must be able to communicate both in Maltese and in English to the benefit of the service users.

Moreover, applicants must have a valid driving licence and a personal car, since driving duties are an important part of the Support Workers’ role.

Selected candidates will have their personal cars fully insured (during service hours) with the Agency’s motor contingency plan and a fuel allowance of €0.32c per work-related kilometre will also be paid.

- Candidates are required to satisfy all eligibility requirements by the closing date of this Call for Applications. Accordingly, only work experience accrued up to and including the closing date shall be considered during the evaluation process. Experience obtained after the closing date will not be taken into consideration.

- Foreign qualifications may be accepted upon the submission of a formal recognition statement issued by the MFHEA at application stage, to support the qualification being presented.
